About Case Study

Case Study is a collaborative artwork involving the entire urbanstew team. The premise for the piece centers around a 26-year-old woman, Diane Murdock, who has decided to isolate herself in her parents' old home and refuse to leave. Not knowing what to do with Diane in this isolated state, her parents suggested that Diane seek out a therapist. Diane was interested but still refused to leave the house. As a compromise, Diane's parents found a therapist who primarily works via video conference. This form of therapy is typically utilized in rural areas where the town is too small for its own therapist. Diane began therapy, and a complex relationship was born.

Unbeknownst to Diane, the therapist wrote a grant to take Diane on as an in-depth case study. The money was received, and the case study work began, though Diane was, and still is completely oblivious to the fact. Diane still lives in her parents' old home and continues with therapy. She also, however, serves as the primary source of income and knowledge for a large team of scientists and psychologists who make up the research team, Sector 16.
